Sylvain Saïghi was born in Paris, France, in 1974. He received an MSc in Electronics, Electrotechnical and Automatics from University Bordeaux 1 in 1998. While at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan, he obtained the highly competitive ‘Agrégation de Génie Electrique’ in 1999.
He received his PhD degree in electronics from University Bordeaux 1 in 2004. His thesis was on analog integrated circuits dedicated to computational neurosciences. In 2005, he received an MSc in Cognitive Sciences from University Victor Segalen Bordeaux 2. His accreditation to supervise research at University of Bordeaux was awarded in 2011.
He is currently Associate Professor at the IMS (Laboratory UMR 5218 CNRS / University of Bordeaux) where his research topics are hardware neural networks for hybridization, event-based computation and nanotechnologies applied to neuromorphic computation.
